Empowering Girls Through Education–JAAGO Foundation’s Call on International Day of the Girl Child

Every girl deserves the chance to dream, to learn, and to rise. Yet for millions of girls around the world, education remains a privilege, not a right. On the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child 2025, JAAGO Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every girl, no matter where she is born, has access to quality education and equal opportunities to thrive.

This year, JAAGO joined hands with three inspiring social media figures–Jessia Islam, Masha Islam, and Tasfia Fatima Tashfee to amplify this message nationwide. Together, they called upon individuals and organisations across Bangladesh to take responsibility for the education of girls.

A Day to Celebrate and Reflect

Since 2011, the United Nations has been observing International Day of the Girl Child on October 11 to highlight the unique challenges girls face, ranging from child marriage and gender-based violence to lack of access to education. It’s a day to not only raise awareness but also to take action to empower girls to learn, lead, and create change.

For JAAGO Foundation, this mission has been at the heart of its journey for over 18 years. From a small room in Rayer Bazar to schools across the country, JAAGO has provided free-of-cost education to over 5,000 underprivileged children, focusing strongly on girls’ education. The organisation believes that when you educate a girl, you don’t just transform her life, you transform families, communities, and the nation.

Voice of Change:

As part of the campaign, Jessia Islam, Miss World Bangladesh 2017, shared her heartfelt belief in the power of education:

“Education is the most powerful tool a girl can have,” said Jessia Islam. “When we invest in a girl’s education, we give her the power to shape her future, break cycles of poverty, and create a ripple effect of change. I’m proud to be part of JAAGO’s mission to make that happen.”

For renowned musician and influencer, Masha Islam, this initiative is deeply personal. She reflected,

“I’ve seen how girls’ potential often goes unnoticed simply because they don’t have access to the right opportunities. Through JAAGO’s Sponsor a Child program, we can change that. Every contribution, no matter how small, can help a girl stay in school and dream bigger.”

Meanwhile, Tasfia Fatima Tashfee, known for her musical talents, reminded everyone that progress begins with action.

“We talk about equality and empowerment, but it starts with one simple act—education. Let’s not wait for change to happen; let’s create it. Sponsor a girl’s education today and become part of her success story.”

Beyond Celebration—Towards Commitment:

While International Day of the Girl Child is a time for celebration, it also serves as a powerful reminder of the work that remains. In Bangladesh, many girls are still denied their right to education due to poverty, social norms, and early marriage. JAAGO Foundation continues to work tirelessly to change that narrative by ensuring that every child, especially every girl, gets a fair chance to learn, grow, and lead.

Through its innovative online and physical schools, JAAGO connects children in remote areas with qualified teachers and modern learning tools. The organisation also provides support for students’ nutrition, health, and personal development, ensuring holistic growth beyond academics.

Join the impact—Sponsor a Child Today:

Empowering girls is not just JAAGO’s mission—it’s a movement that belongs to all of us. You can be part of this transformation. By sponsoring a child, you give a girl the opportunity to go to school, gain confidence, and shape her own destiny.

Join JAAGO Foundation’s Sponsor a Child program and help make education a right, not a privilege. Together, let’s build a future where every girl can learn, lead, and light the way forward.
